Antibiotics on the Rise for Otitis Media

Despilte please from Infectious Disease experts and others about overuse of antibiotics leading to antibiotic resistence, broad spectrum antibiotics are increasingly being prescribed for middle-ear infections: an increase from 34% of visits in 1998, to 45% in 2004. Results were from The National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey and National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey from 1998 to 2004. The article appears in June issue of BMC Pediatrics
